Hernan met me, upon my returning from the Mosquito Grove, for a brief update on arisings. It transpires that, at last night’s performance, 4 young men were trying to get in without tickets; this by hiding on a stairwell leading from the bar to the stage. This route did not exist, according to the venue – it is not a way to the stage! it is an escape route! therefore it is not a way to the stage even though it leads to the stage! The 4 free-attenders took the view that this was a way from the bar to the stage, regardless of what other functions the route might serve.

Alain discovered their secretive presence. The complaint, and therefore right to free entrance, was predicated on the special promotion offer last week, of two tickets for the price of one, that was not available this week. The resulting anger & ill-will was simmering in close proximity to the performers, disturbing the invisible-but-tangible atmosphere of the performance. Not bootlegging; a different form of we have the right to something for nothing! because we can! and a sufficient contribution to the not-quiteness of yesterday evening’s performance.

Let’s hear it for the obscure ideologies of Guitar Craft & the supposed subtleties of performance life; none of which can possibly have effect, particularly to those who have no sense of them anyway; but who do have a developed sense of entitlement to what life has to offer, providing only that this is gratis.

Four Questions From A Crafty
Third Question

The section on automatic functioning has but one sentence on 'the automatic heart.' As I see it, the sensitive heart also is a place of likes and dislikes but it differs from the automatic heart in that my heart when energized sensitively may react but notices that it is reacting; whereas the automatic heart just reacts, with no noticing.

A very quick answer is, yes. In noticing, there is a distance between the reaction, and our reacting.

A quick answer is, the next step is to notice our noticing of our reacting.

A longer answer has already filled volumes of authoritative commentary.

Four Questions From A Crafty
Fourth Question

Theoretically, the three centres could each operate with one of the four qualities, which would lead to 12 'operational configurations' for the aspirant to operate in. Is there a correspondence of these 12 configurations to the notes in the octave, that you know of?

It’s not quite like this. A more useful approach is…

Intellectual
Feeling
Moving

… each of which has a “version” of the other, giving nine “configurations”…

Intellectual
the “thinking” of thinking;
the feel of thinking;
the doing of thinking.

Feeling
the thinking of feeling;
the feeling of feeling;
the doing of feeling.

Moving
the thinking of the body;
the feeling of the body;
the doing of the body.

This is clumsily expressed, but I’m sure you get the overall gist.

Very few people are balanced in all the three primary modes. We often delude ourselves, believing that we know what it is to operate in all three centres, because we experience our partial form of that experiencing / functioning within our own dominant centre/s.

Another aspect of this is, sometimes we get a taste of what it might be like to be more functional in a less-developed centre. At that point, there is a connection to the notion of “qualities of functioning”.

When the three instruments – the hands, the head & the heart - begin to work together, we get a taste of what understanding might be. As the Guitar Craft aphorism puts it: understanding is a three-legged stool.

Overall, adjudged a good show; with an acceptable Soundscape, in my view.

Continuing bad notes; an unplugging clunk; a flash on the hold at the end of Schizoid.
